We made a quick but great trip to OKC this weekend. The highlight had to be John Reid's discovery of a pair of cowboy boots that fit. His own pair of boots that Grumpy had made for him when he was born are still too big. He points to and talks about them everyday but whenever we try to put them on he slips out of them. My mom has had the boots she wore when she was 18 moths old as a fun decor in our house for a while. Of course John Reid quickly let Grammy know he spotted them and wanted them on his feet. Well, they fit! Oh my word, it was so much fun to watch him learn to walk with them on. I was so surprised he kept with it, he wont even wear those cute baby Crocks! But boots are another story. Our little Trigger seems to be quite the cowboy at heart!
Because John Reid's love for golf clubs we thought we'd take him up to the OKC Club to hit some balls. Of course he doesn't really hit the ball, once in a while he'll make contact with it... but it's still fun to watch him. He also equally enjoyed the large sand box, bucket of balls and golf card ride!
We also made a trip to the zoo! It was fun for John Reid to get closer to the animals (much closer than the FW zoo). I didn't get any great pictures. All in all it was a wonderful time with Grammy and Grumpy! We'll see you in Colorado next month.
Last week I served a side of spaghetti with dinner. In the past John Reid has not understood the concept of slurping up noodles. (Now that I'm writing this, I guess it's totally inappropriate for a child to "slurp" anything... maybe I should rethink this Anyhow, it sure is a pain to cut noodles into bite size pieces so we were excited he learned the new trick.
Clarification
After my parents questioned John Reid's Mother's Day card in the last post I feel a need to clarify. You might find it hard to believe that the letters M-O-M written on the first card are not John Reid's original art. (something I thought was a given) I wrote those letters as an example to John Reid and his art is actually just the faint scribbling you can hardly see.
Baby #2 update
I will get some pictures of my bump soon. I was surprised last week the nurse at John Reid's doctor asked when I was due. I guess I'm not only feeling pregnant but looking pregnancy now! I'm 19 weeks and feeling the baby often. We have our sonogram later this week, however we didn't find out with John Reid (cord was in the way) so I'm not counting on finding out if it's a bro or sis for John Reid. If we don't, I will quickly make an appointment for a private company that does gender determination. I've been keeping myself from thinking of nursery decor and I've about had it. We continue to pray for a "healthy baby who sleeps and eats well." (This is my first request at prayer group every week!)
