One of the best things about parenthood so far has been Chris and I coming together as a team to raise John Reid. While we think it's important to agree and work together, we are also careful that we don't interfere too much with his mama-son and father-son relationship.
Thus... when I found my son IN the charcoal grill under his father's supervision I decided I would laugh, grab the camera and keep my mouth shut. (I guess blogging about it doesn't classify as "keeping my mouth shut.")
This grill is a story in and of itself. Basically, I HATE IT! Chris step-dad Cam has grilled on this old thing forever (it's two bath tubs on top of each other) and the ugliest thing you've ever seen! But, because Cam is outstanding on the grill I guess I can't complain too much. Chris' parents kindly brought it to us the weekend of John Reid's birthday for grilling burgers and it seems our house is it's new home.
John Reid helped Chris stack the charcoal and then I made sure this was a great teaching opportunity. We showed him the fire and smoke and said HOT 5,000 times. He understands the word, he says it about our coffee cups, so I'm hopeful he will not play in fire pits in the future!
And here are a couple of new shots with his cowboy boots and hat!
We had a wonderful Memorial Weekend in Birmingham. I'l post pictures soon!
