Introducing...

Benjamin Wade Trigger
9*12*09     12:20pm
7lbs2oz, 19 1/4 inches

Today has been a bitter sweet day. I am finally home after 13 days at Harris Downtown. I cannot begin to express my emotions, but all in all we are simply praising God! Benjamin is doing great. He started breast milk this morning (that is the tube in his mouth) and we are eager to see how he handles food. It's a very good sign that the doctor felt he was healthy enough for milk, earlier discussions led us to believe they would begin a simplified formula.
It was difficult for Chris and I to leave our 3 day old baby and go the 3 miles to our house. We know he is being well taken care of (Harris NICU) and we look forward to visiting him this evening.
I don't have the energy to write too much information but basically Benjamin was born at 35wks5days with ascites (fluid in the abdomen). Usually, there are clear and serious causes for this condition. Praise God this has not been the case for our baby. Tomorrow they will look closely at his kidneys, which is the last of "serious concerns." Because he had plenty of wet diapers the doctor does not expect to find a major malfunction. God had already used our precious baby to declare His power within the hospital. Doctors are amazed at how well he has done. By God's grace we have used this to praise God together with the medical people who are believers and witness to those who are not. We continue to place Benjamin the hands of the Great Physician and hope to have even better news by week's end.
In cases where a direct cause of ascites has not been detected, babies typically get rid of the fluid on their own eventually and carry on as normal, healthy babies. This is our prayer.
